EA Sports FC esports: the game and its pro scene

What is EA Sports FC?

EA Sports FC esports is played on Electronic Arts' football series, released in numbered editions. EA Sports FC 26, developed by EA Canada and EA Romania, came out in September 2025; the FC Pro 27 competitive season is played on its successor, EA Sports FC 27.

Official licences are central to the series: EA Sports FC 26 puts the UEFA Champions League, the Premier League, the Bundesliga and LaLiga EA Sports alongside women's competitions such as Liga F. Fans can run a club in Manager Career, join friends in Clubs or build a dream squad in Football Ultimate Team, the mode where the pro circuit opens its online qualifying ladder.

How does the EA Sports FC pro scene work?

EA organises the official circuit under the FC Pro banner, and it offers players of the game an open pathway. In the FC Pro 27 season, the road starts with an in-game ladder, continues through online regional qualifiers and an in-person global qualifier, and leads to the FC Pro Open, a live mid-season event.

There are other routes to the world championship; in FC Pro 27 they include monthly FC Pro Open Cups that award circuit points, a last chance qualifier and play-ins. At several events, competitors assemble their team within set restrictions before playing, a twist EA calls FC Pro Draft.

EA also works with real football leagues on FC Pro Leagues. In the ePremier League, players represent Premier League clubs, and strong results can lead to the eChampions League and the world championship. Formats can change from one season to the next, so the official FC Pro site is the reference for the current path.

What are the biggest EA Sports FC tournaments?

The season ends with the FC Pro World Championship, the circuit's top prize. In 2026 it was part of the Esports World Cup, staged in Paris, with 36 finalists who came through the FC Pro Open, partner leagues, the last chance qualifier and the play-ins.

That edition introduced a league phase of six matches per player, with the top 24 advancing to single-elimination knockouts. EA has confirmed that this league stage is set to come back in the FC Pro 27 season.

The FC Pro Open is the circuit's main showcase halfway through the season, and its top finishers secure world championship seats. Among partner competitions, the ePremier League brings 40 players from 20 clubs to Manchester for club-against-club live stages.
